#StudioSmexy Superstar of Romance Author Tessa Dare

Design by Syd Gill

TESSA!!!! The first time I met this lovely lady was at RWA in Anaheim last summer. I took a pic of her walking back to her room with Mr. Dare and her Rita. SHe was simply stunning, even with shoes in hand. We chatted about a cover and I shot some pics. One of them ended up on her book. It was AWESOME. AMAZING. SO VERY VERY COOL. And the book is fantasmical. Without further ado, a little spotlight on the brilliant Tessa Dare and her PIIINK cover.

Jenn: What book(s) feature a Studio Smexy photograph on the cover?
Tessa: The Scandalous, Dissolute, No-Good Mr. Wright, from Avon Impulse. I couldn’t be more thrilled that they purchased photos from Jenn for my novella!

Jenn: What elements do you like to see on a book cover? (hero, heroine, landscape…)
Tessa: I love couples and clinches. I always have! Especially if they illustrate a playful, flirty dynamic between the hero and heroine. The cover starts telling the story before the reader even turns the first page.

Jenn: Describe your cover in one word (smexy or sexy doesn’t count)
Tessa: Fantabgorgeulous! What, that’s not a word? Okay, how about… PINK.

Jenn: What can readers expect from you next?
Tessa: I have two more stories coming in the Spindle Cove series. Sometime in the spring, readers can look forward to Diana Highwood’s story as a digital-first novella (title TBA), and then in June 2013, look for ANY DUCHESS WILL DO. Check my website for all the latest news!

When a girl meets a rake…

Miss Eliza Cade is a lady in waiting. And waiting. Because of a foolish mistake in her youth, she’s not allowed “out” in Society until her three older sisters are wed. But while she’s trying to be good, she keeps bumping elbows–and more distressingly, lips–with notorious rake Harry Wright. Every moment she spends with him, she risks complete ruin. The sensual passions he stirs in her are so wrong…but Eliza just can’t resist Mr. Wright.

Tessa Dare is the USA Today bestselling author of eight historical romance novels and two novellas. She has twice been awarded the RT Book Reviews Reviewer’s Choice Award, and has twice been a finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA® award. Her books have been contracted for translation in ten languages. Recently, Booklist magazine named her one of the “new stars of historical romance.”

Mixing wit, sensuality, and emotion, Tessa strives to write Regency-set romance novels that feel relatable to modern readers. With her new “Spindle Cove” series, she’s had great fun creating a fictional seaside community populated by women who defy the conventions of their time—engaging in such unladylike pursuits as medicine, geology, and artillery. And she’s had even more fun dreaming up the strong-willed, unsuspecting men who’ll find their hearts ensnared by these unlikely heroines.

The first Spindle Cove book, A Night to Surrender, received critical acclaim, including starred reviews from Publisher’s Weekly and Booklist. The digital-only release Once Upon a Winter’s Eve: A Spindle Cove Novella spent four weeks on the USA Today bestseller list. The next Spindle Cove installment, Any Duchess Will Do, will be available May 28, 2013 from Avon Books.

A librarian by training and a booklover at heart, Tessa takes great pride and pleasure in continuing to work part-part-time at her local public library. She makes her home in Southern California, where she shares a cozy, cluttered bungalow with her husband, their two children, and a big brown dog.

Tessa I agree. A cover is great is it can start telling a story before you even start reading the book. I love a great cover and that’s what usually will draw me to a book first.
